| The city of Winchester lies in Hampshire in the south east England. It has a population of approximately 108,122 and has a relatively low density of population at a mere 164 per kmē. It is however ranked 62nd largest city ion terms of area at approximately 660.97 kmē, hence its relatively low density and therefore it is quite an affluent area. It is also known for being the former capital of England and whence Alfred the great administered his throne. It has a rich history and dates back to the Iron age circa 150BC, when a fort was built on St Catherines hill. |
