Stoke on Trent has long been known for its trade and industry in pottery, hence the nickname ‘the potteries’. The local potteries are none less than world renowned Minton, Spode, Royal Doulton and Wedgwood, all of which have been born in Stoke on Trent.. Since the decline of the economy in the area it has seen a resurgence in its service sector. Therefore, Hanley, a borough of Stoke on Trent, is a reputedly a good place for shopping and nightlife. |
