Ripon City Guide |
| Ripon is situated in north Yorkshire and is a cathedral city. The cathedral is known for its pleasant form and is formed from various styles of architecture. It was formed in the year 680 on a Saxon building called St Wilfrid's abbey. The city is home to many more historical buildings including the public rooms, mechanics' institution, and the town hall. Ripon was formed owing to the monastery built there in the 7th century. It was started by an abbot called eata who was deposed for not celebrating Easter during the Roman years and St Wilifrid took over the building of it s first abbot. |
