Plymouth is situated in south west of England in the count of Devon. Amongst its claims to fame is that it was the place where Sir Francis Drake is allegedly supposed to have played bowls before defeating the Spanish Armada. There are three places of higher education, namely the University of Plymouth, The College of St Mark and St John (this college is often known as MarJon) and Plymouth College of Further Education.
During the period between July 6th 1940 and April 30th 1944, 1,172 people died and 3,269 people suffered injuries due to the second world war bombings by Germany. Modern day Plymouth has as one of its employers a port and it is used to be the main refitter of nuclear submarines and other Royal Navy ships.
