Coventry is a city in the West Midlands of England. With a population of 304,746 (2002 estimate), Coventry is the ninth largest city in England.
Coventry is based in the West Midlands southeast of Birmingham. It is the ninth largest city in England with a population of over 300,000. The city is famous as the home of Lady Godiva who is said to have rode through the streets of the city naked in the 11th century.
Coventry was heavily bombed during the 2nd World War, and consequently much of the city is modern in design and look.
The city has a history of car and motorcycle manufacturing dating back over 100 years. More recently the vehicle manufacturing industry has declined, but Jaguar still has its headquarters in the city and Peugeot also has a plant in Ryton on the outskirts.
