It is a city rich in history and has much architecture to commemorate this. York council has some 2084 listed buildings, 27 Conservation Areas, and 20 Scheduled Ancient Monuments in the city. There are also many ancient Roman finds in the Yorkshire museum. Modern day York is a hub of tourism and a transport junction due to its position in the country. It is also where famous English confectionaries Chocolate Orange, Smarties, KitKat and Yorkie bar originated – the latter of which is eponymous.
